iTunes’ Top Ten Singles of the Week

It is interesting to note iTunes’ top ten selling singles of this past week. Although many claim that online sales are decreasing as a result of piracy, this list makes it apparent that a large number of people still buy tracks and albums on iTunes. It is especially interesting to note that the singles are more or less all hip-hop related. Indeed, the genre has become increasingly popular over the past few years.

Clark University Joining with the Peace Corp

Hear Patrick Oroszko, Associate Director of Admissions at Clark University’s GSOM, where Brad Powers is on the Board, interviewed on The Hank Stolz Experience.   In addition to discussing the Graduate School, Mr. Oroszko discusses the partnership that Clark University has with the Peace Corps Fellows USA Program.

Patrick Oroszko explains that Clark University was recently accepted to be one of the Peace Corps Fellows Universities.  Peace Corp volunteers will have the opportunity to come to Clark University after their Peace Corp experience to work on a Master’s Degree.

Fynanz Launches New Website

In recent news for Fynanz, the company that develops customized private student lending solutions, has launched a new website.  With advisor Brad Powers, Fynanz has started cuStudentLoans.org, a website that features Ken’s Korner, Twitter feed, Q&A section, links and more.

Ken O’Connor, who spent ten years as a financial aid officer at Fairleigh Dickinson University Metropolitan Campus in New Jersey, has joined Fynanz as Director of Financial Literacy.  He is spearheading the educational program at Fynanz and is showcasing Ken’s Korner on the website.  Ken’s Korner will offer students and their parents extensive resources for finding the right financial aid options for their college experience.

As Ken O’Connor explained, “With the new website and Ken’s Korner, we are now able to help students find solutions for many top concerns including how to find grant and scholarship funding, how to choose the college that is right for them and how to handle the financial aid process along with many other issues.”

The Essence of Viral Marketing

To be successful at viral marketing, you first need to develop the right idea.  That along with the correct implementation will get enough people so interested that they will take it upon themselves to spread the word.  That sounds nice enough in theory but how would that work in practice?  One way is by offering people who are already signed up for your service to get something for free, just for getting someone else to sign up.  Or, better still, offer them both a freebie.  In addition, a great video has been known to work wonders for spreading the word. Dothetest.co.uk has a video that seeks to encourage drivers to watch out for cyclists, but emphasizing how easy it is to miss something you’re not looking out for.   The video they show tries to get you to focus on just one thing and then sneaks something in that you wouldn’t think you’d miss but you actually do miss it even though it wasn’t there.  It’s clever and it works.  These are just a few basic viral marketing techniques but there are plenty more out there.
